Hindi kasi naging maingay ang pagkakaroon niya ng sakit na tila itinago niya sa publiko at tahimik na nakikipaglaban sa sakit niyang cancer.
Isang malaking kawalan sa showbiz industry si Miss Cherie Gil dahil sa malaking ambag nito sa industriya dahil na rin sa angking talento nito sa pag-arte.
Sa kaniyang Instagram account ay nagbahagi ng kaniyang mensahe si Megastar Sharon Cuneta sa pangyayari.
Ibinahagi nito ang labis na kaniyang paghihinagpis sa pagkawala ng isa sa matalik niyang kaibigan na nakasama pa umano niya sa mga huling sandali nito
"I flew to New York early yesterday with a heavy heart,still forcing it to hang on to that sliver of hope of God performing a miracle&allowing you to pull through this.

Then barely eleven hours after I left you, I was awakened by his call saying you had passed… I leave New York now with a much heavier heart than ever before…because now I am leaving YOU with the knowledge that I will NEVER see you again…
